From the Isolation of the Individual to the Power of the Collective
"Facing the New Challenges of 2024: We Are Here, We Are Together! From the Isolation of the Individual to the Power of the Collective"
To follow up on the invitation of the International Drama/Theatre & Education Association (IDEA), we organised a dramatic experience at our school theatre based on the theme proposed by the Hellenic Network for Theatre in Education (TENet-Gr).
In this context, we created a story centred on corrupt leadership, which the residents of a fictional town had to address collectively. Through collaboration, dialogue, and interaction, our students had the opportunity to discover how collective action can become the most powerful tool for solving societal problems.
The holistic lessons of Zachariou Foreign Language School go beyond the traditional boundaries of teaching a foreign language. In addition to linguistic competence, our students learn how to handle challenges before they become overwhelming in real life.
The most impressive element of Educational Drama is that solutions are not imposed. They are discovered by participants themselves through experiential processes. In this way, drama becomes not only a tool for learning but also a means of empowerment, fostering core values, and nurturing a deep sense of collective consciousness.
