"Moving from teacher to teacher/artist". Mrs Zachariou's professional presentation to Tesol Greece members

The 20th century model of education reflecting the theory of rationalism, has led to what Freire, the father of critical pedagogy, calls "banking education". This concept refers to education as an act of depositing rather than communicating in which the teacher is the depositor and students the depositories. Embodied cognition on the other end of the spectrum, is a new approach that celebrates active learning and whole child development. A medium that facilitates embodied learning and promotes holism is drama. Drama is an 'I feel therefore I learn' type of pedagogy that is currently shaking the world of education!
